Biography

Lee’s life in music began as many do in the school bands back in his home town of Nottingham where he developed his skills as a professional standard drummer. At 16 he joined his first real life pro band, entering the world of Country Music. Through the years Lee has played all over the world and has been lucky enough to have backed many famous Country artists both live and in studio.

In recent times Country music has turned to Roots and Acoustic as a new genre. Working recently with Jon J Paul and his bands varied instrumentation, including accordion and pedal steel, has flavoured Lee’s ‘creative layered’ approach to the drum seat in Diesel Therapy.

Lee’s friendly obsession for equipment has been curtailed slightly through Diesels ‘back to basics’ requirement. It was once commonplace to see Lee surrounded by a rack of drums and cymbals. Today, however, those famous drum clusters are often clipped back to kick and snare to provide straight ‘4’s behind the frontline troupes of Jim, Danny and Tony.

Whilst Lee’s drum sound is ‘punchy and tight’, he is equally at home using brushes to compliment Jim and Danny’s linear phasing and tasteful dual harmonics (it says here).

Locked into Tony’s bass lines, they can often be seen grooving together when the chance arises. Jim and Danny’s theory is ‘best not disturb them, you know how touchy rhythm sections can get’!!!
