Never Been Hobos!

Never Been Hobos, Maverick advertisement

The Band are about to book more studio time to complete the next c.d., tentatively titled "Never been Hobos". Six songs are already recorded and we hope for a late summer release. As usual we have used the The Cluny Studio and our favourite Newcastle producer/engineer Tony Davis. All tracks are written by Jim or Jim and Dan. The new rhythm section, Tony and Lee, feature on all tracks to great effect. Our fifth member, Jon J. Paul (accordion and keyboard), has also made a big contribution. We are cautiously optimistic about the tracks.

The title "Never been Hobos" is a steal from our website ‘mission statement’ and has been selected as an opening for an upcoming review of our first c.d. in Maverick Country Music Magazine. "The Turf House" will be reviewed in the May edition. Keep a look out for it. Maverick is a great magazine with reviews of all kinds of Roots music. More news soon. (03/04/2008)

Sharpe’s Pottery, Saturday 3rd May 2008

Founded on the present site in 1821, Sharpe’s Pottery is a very rare example of an early 19th century pottery, complete with its old red brick industrial buildings and original brick bottle kiln. The pottery is now a heritage centre, museum and local arts complex. Facilities include car-parking, modern amenities, café and gallery space.

Diesel Therapy will make a welcome return to this intimate venue on Saturday 3rd May 2008, again performing in the Kiln. The Kiln is an experience in itself (the acoustics are amazing). Their last show was a sell out so book your tickets soon! Tickets are £7, available now from the Pottery box office (telephone 01283 222600). See Sharpe’s Pottery website or contact the team at Evil Genius Music Management for more details.

Bar and refreshments will be provided by Sharpe’s Pottery staff. The Kiln is a no smoking venue, suitable for people of all ages. There is disabled access to all parts of the building. (24/03/2008)

Ship Inn, Low Newton - Thank you!

Another huge thank you to the regulars and visitors to the Ship Inn who made our Easter Sunday gig there such a lot of fun. Great people, great atmosphere and great micro-brewery - we look forward to our next visit in July! Special thanks to Hannah and Christine for looking after us. (24/03/2007)

Andrea Pattison

Jim has been spending time with Richard Rutherford and Andrea Pattison, working on the live set for Andreas band and some new songs for her upcoming c.d.. The band has Graham Wood on Keyboard and Steve Wall on drums as well as the "other two".

Andrea is a mainstay of the Laughing Jacks function band organisation as well as being Richards partner. Thought of as a jazz singer by many, Andrea has a love of Dolly Parton and is writing some "good songs" with Richard, according to Jim.

(Danny and Andrea used to be in a band together - about 14 years ago they reckon. Good to see that Jim has caught up at last!!) (13/03/2008)

Sleepwalk tops 1500 plays

Jim’s version of "Sleepwalk" (the old Santo and Johnny hit from wayback) received over 1500 hits on the Ramseur Records’ MySpace website. Taken from the c.d. "Hell’s Half Acre" by Martin Stephenson, the track was recorded live on Dolph Ramseurs front porch during a trip to North Carolina. Martin plays guitar on the cut and Jim plays Dobro. (11/03/2008)

Aaron Bayley records Jim Hornsby songs

Singer Aaron Bayley has recorded two of Jims songs for his upcoming c.d. ‘Cowbells and Indians’. ‘World Outside’ from the Diesel Therapy c.d. ‘Turf House’ can be heard/downloaded from Aaron’s website. The other song is a brand new composition called ‘Memphis Moon’. Naturally Jim is happy to have his songs covered and we wish Aaron every success with the c.d. (10/03/2008)

Thank You Ravenshead!

Changes

2008 will see a new lineup for Diesel Therapy. Jim and Danny would like to acknowledge the invaluable contribution made to their first CD ‘The Turf House’ and all gigs to date by Eric Green (drums) and Sean Taylor (bass). These two Geordie musicians have been a joy to work with and a pleasure to socialise with. Thanks Lads!

Eric and Sean can be seen as half of the new Annie Orwin Band at venues around the Northeast. We wish them every possible success.

Jim’s brother Tony Hornsby joins Diesel Therapy on bass guitar and vocals. Lee Guyler joins on drums, percussion and vocals. ‘The Plan’ remains unchanged:- good original songs, great picking and an uncompromising desire to give value for money. The new lineup is currently recording a CD for release mid-2008. (01/01/2008)
